Connecting to the Character's Feelings

Thula came home with a work sheet she had completed in school. The assignment was to write about the story they had read in class and then connect it to an event it reminded them of in their own lives. From what Thula wrote, the story was about a hungry dog who no one wanted to feed. She then wrote, "That is like my life because I felt sad when I didn't get any food when my dad sad I eat to much. We both felt sad about it." Then the teacher wrote off to the side, "Thula, try and connect with a different event."
Then the following week she comes home with the same assignment different story and says that the story reminds her of when "robbers came to our home and she was really scared." And her teacher writes, "Thula, did that really happen?!"

Thula, you have some 'splain' to do!

Lion King to Snow Ball Queen

Thula's school had a Snow Ball. Thula was picked to be the first grade Snow Queen.

Guess who got to see The Lion King?! Thula and Stuart went to see it in Hartford. He got her a little 'zazu' doll. Thula said she really liked the 'young Simba'. She said, "I didn't know kids could act!"

Thula wore her Zambian dress to the play.

Leaving for the show.
