Headwraps, zoo, and tents

I accidently cut myself from the picture but I like Lela's eyes in this one.

wearing her little head wrap

waiting for sissy to finish with track

At the lorikeet exhibit at the zoo. We couldn't get any birds to land on us, but I did get one to bite my finger really hard. I took Lela to the zoo as a 'mommy and me date' and we  had so much fun. Lela loves the zoo and we stayed for 5 hours! Her favorites are the African lions and the sea lions.

At the African animal section they have an old taxi for the kids to play on. It's so true to life how crappy their taxis are. Lela likes to 'drive' it around.

We finished off the day with a carousel ride. Her favorite.

Sleeping in her tent.

Thula sleeping in the tent. She called the part under the chair her 'bedroom' so that is why she stuck her head under there.

Thula and Lela like to build 'tents' in the living room. I let them sleep in it Satruday night.

Springtime fun

Look at how pretty my roses are coming in!

Lela and her umbrella

This is a robin's nest in the rose bushes. I had to hurry and take this shot because the mama robin is one serious protector. One time when Stuart tried to peer in she repeatedly dived at his head. Thula and Lela saw it and were traumatized. I would give anything to have taken footage of that incident.

Lela enjoying The Friend magazine

Lela took advantage of a little puddle at the park with her new boots and umbrella

Lela and her friend Sam wathching her favorite show, She-Ra on her favorite device, the kindle via netflix

Thula in front of the Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts. I was able to help chaperone her class for a production of Lyle the Crocodile. It was a cute play. Thula also let me hold her hand in public. :-) I have never missed a single field trip of Thula's since she started school. I feel I'm pretty lukcy

Watching "Thunder over Louisville" on top of Stuart's work parking garage. It's the biggest firework show in the country-even after all the 4th of July celebrations. They have two 'grand finales' with the last one ending with firing cannons (hence the thunder). They have a military air show before the fireworks that was really fun to watch too. This is all for the Kentucky Derby which will be happening in two weeks.

what's in this present?

a book from Grandma! Thank you!

Lela finally got her umbrella. She really enjoys the book Raindrop Plop and Momo, both about girls who go out in the rain with their own rainboots and umbrella.

Inside part of Mammoth Cave-the longest cave in the world. All my pictures have orbs in them-ghosts of Native Americans? ;-)

Lela loves playing with her new umbrella and boots. She really wanted rainboots, but the only boots I could find were snow boots. In Kentucky?! I'll keep looking for some rainboots.

All gussied up for church. Lela looks good enough to eat!

Easter

The best photos we could muster up before church

A bit of a breezy morning
Dyeing eggs. The girls had so much fun

After opening her easter basket Lela promptly dug into her chocolate and then most of Thula's. I made sure to only put a few pieces in each bag. I know Lela has a sweet tooth!

Teeth full of chocolate

Thula trying out her new hula-hoop. Notice her U of L cardinal shirt!

Lela discovering her basket behind a pillow on the couch. She was so proud to have easter dinner with her new fork. She also got sidewalk chalk, bubbles, and new white undershirts. She loves her undershirts!

Thula found her basket! She got a new summer shirt, a kite, a hula-hoop, and bubbles

Our Kentucky friends, the Kelly's, invited us down to their parents house for a family easter party. It was an hour southeast of Louisville in a town called Springfield. It was a lovely drive to see the hills and farms in Kentucky. They had an easter egg hunt for the kids.

Thula likes the idea of looking for eggs in the grass and she didn't get any help from me!
