Summer Fun

Helping Mommy make bread. She's just like Thula at this age. She pulls up a dining room chair and 'helps.' Too bad that attitude doesn't last for long!

Thula's last day of 2nd grade and at Roger Sherman. She's the one in the blue shirt. She was feeling a bit blue too. She loves school.

Her little neighbor friend Lilly is walking home with her.

On the last day of school (June 20th) we walked to Les' Dairy Bar and got icecream. Thula chose bubblegum, Lela got a strawberry, Grams chose a banana, and I chose a lime/lemon slush.

Thula loves any excuse to get wet.

Beatrice started a garden. She planted pinto beans, onions, tomatoes, pumpkins, spinanch, and lettuces. It's looking good!

We all came out to help with the weeding.

We had someone coming to look at the house so we grabbed some Dairy Queen for dinner and headed to the park for a picnic. Lela loves the swings.

Looking at these pictures of Thula on the swings makes me realize how much she's grown. Time flies and I hate that!

Mystic Seaport

We visited Mystic Seaport in Mystic, Ct. It's a living history place where they show you what a seaport village was like around 150+ years ago.  It was fun except it was a very hot day.

I thought this was the most interesting part of the trip. It's the last whaling ship in the world, 170 years old. They are remodeling it for another sea voyage next year.

While daddy was here he was busy fixing things around the house and Lela was his little helper. She followed him around the house asking, "Daddy, what you doin?"

Stuart's 32nd Birthday 'Bash'

On Stuart's birthday he left in the morning to go and play soccer for 3 hours! So everyone was waiting around being excited to finally visit with him since he's been gone living in Kentucky for his new job.

Grandma cooked fried fish, beans, and nshima for Stuart's birthday. Lela loved the fish and said in her cute baby voice, "Give me fish!" (Yes, that is the head she's sucking on!)

Afterwards we went bowling. Ofcourse I didn't let Stuart win. I punished him! Afterward when I was talking to his brother on the phone and told him that I had won by a significant margin he laughed and said, "I love it when Stuart doesn't automatically win at something." Hahaha

When Lela throws a tantrum she wants to be cuddled in a blanket to calm down no matter how hot it is.
